Iran director Shahnavaz buried at cultural heritage site

The director of classic Iranian series 'Braves of Tangestan' is laid to rest beside a national cultural heritage site in the city of Delvar, Iran.

Director of classic Iranian series 'Braves of Tangestan', Homayoun Shahnavaz, has been laid to rest beside a national cultural heritage site in the city of Delvar, Iran.

Shahnavaz was interred on Sunday in the southwestern coastal city of Delvar, beside the house of Raisali Delvari, who was the leader of an armed uprising against British forces during World War I.

The historical event was depicted in Shahnavaz' TV series 'Braves of Tangestan' in the early 1970s.

The Shahnavaz family decided to bury the director in the town due to a call from a group of artists in Iran's Bushehr Province.

His tomb is next to the house of Raisali Delvari, which was registered in the National Cultural Heritage List in 1997 and was also converted into a museum showcasing objects from the armed uprising.

Shahnavaz died after succumbing to injuries from a fire blast at his home in Tehran on March 7.

After an explosion caused by a gas leak erupted in Homayoun Shahnavaz's home, he was catapulted from the fourth floor to the street below.

He died at a Tehran hospital from injuries he suffered in a fire at his home. He was 80.
